Setting Up Your Cisco 8845 Phone Voicemail

Last Updated on

Your Cisco 8845 phone is fully configured with your phone number, extension, and online directory. Follow these steps to set up your voicemail and start receiving messages.

Step 1: Access the Voicemail System

  1. Locate the Messages button on your Cisco 8845 phone (it has an icon that looks like a cassette tape, above the settings 'gear' button and 'open book' button on the left-hand side).
  2. Press the Messages button.
  3. When prompted, enter the temporary password: 135791 (Ticket requests for pin resets may have a different temporary pin - see a technician's instructions if unsure).

Step 2: Select the Correct Phone Line (if applicable)

If your phone has multiple lines:

  1. Press the line button first for the specific line.
  2. You may be prompted for a User ID.
  3. Enter your extension number (last five numbers of the assigned phone number you'd like to interact with) and press # to proceed.

Note: If your phone has only one line, this step may be skipped automatically.

Step 3: Complete the Voicemail Setup

Follow the voice prompts to complete these three tasks:

  1. Voicemail Name:
    • Record your name (e.g., "Jane Doe") or select the default option by pressing #.
  2. Voicemail Greeting:
    • Record a personalized greeting (e.g., "Hi, you've reached Jane Doe. Please leave a message.") or choose the default greeting by pressing #.
  3. Voicemail PIN:
    • Create a new PIN (5 or 6 digits).
    • Ensure the PIN is not your extension number.
    • Confirm the PIN when prompted.

PIN Requirements

  • Must be 5 or 6 digits long.
  • Cannot be your extension number.
  • Avoid simple sequences (e.g., 12345 or 11111).

Step 4: Start Using Your Voicemail

Once setup is complete, your voicemail is ready. Customers can reach you by dialing your assigned telephone number.

To listen to your voice messages:

  1. Press the Messages button.
  2. Follow the voice prompts.
