This guide walks you through adding and configuring Fullerton College network printers on your Mac. Following these steps will allow you to print reliably from your device using the college’s print servers.
- Click the Apple menu in the upper-left corner of your screen and select System Settings.
(Or alternatively, click the System Settings icon in the Dock.)
2. In the System Settings window, scroll down and click Printers & Scanners, then click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax… button.
3. In the Add Printer window, add the Advanced button to the toolbar (it is not shown by default): Right-click (or Control-click) in the empty space next to the Default or Windows buttons, select Customize Toolbar…, then drag the Advanced icon up to the toolbar. Click Done.
4. Click the new Advanced button. Wait a few seconds for the options to load.
5. From the Type drop-down menu, select Windows printer via spool.
6. Configure the printer as follows:
- Device: Leave as default.
- URL: Enter
smb://fcpmp02.fullcoll.edu/followed by the print queue name (the name shown on the white sticker on the printer).
Example:smb://fcpmp02.fullcoll.edu/PrinterQueueName - Name: Enter the print queue name again.
- Location: Enter the room number where the printer is located.
- Use (or Choose a Driver): Select Generic PostScript Printer.
Click Add.
7. In the next dialog, check the box for Duplex Printing Unit (if available), then click OK.
8. Test the printer:
Open the TextEdit application, type a few words, then go to File > Print. Select the printer you just added and click Print.
9. When the authentication window appears, enter your FcNET credentials in the following format:
Username: FC\YourFcNETUsername
Password: Your FcNET password
Check the box to Remember this password in my keychain, then click OK.
10. The print job should now output at the printer.
You're all set! You have successfully added the Fullerton College network printer to your Mac.
