How to Manage Network Printers

Updated on

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for adding, setting as default, and removing networked printers on a Windows desktop computer at Fullerton Community College.

All campus printers are connected to the internal network, accessible via the server \\fcpmp02.

Before starting, note the printer’s model number and queue name (e.g., FcAxxxx), typically found on a sticker on the printer. (*If this information is missing, contact the ACT Help Desk at 714-992-7111 or [email protected].)

Printer Identification and Maintenance

Each network printer at Fullerton Community College has a label with a queue name starting with FcAxxxx (e.g., FcA123-Ptr1). This queue name is used to identify the printer on the network.

Additionally, printers have a Toshiba QR code sticker, indicating they are networked and managed under the Toshiba service contract. This contract includes automatic ink monitoring—when ink levels drop below 5% for any color, new cartridges are shipped to the Fullerton College Mailroom/Production Center (Building 840, Room 841, Phone: 714-992-7023). Staff can contact the Mailroom for ink refills or call the Toshiba distributor directly at 877-855-1344 for ink or tier-two repairs (e.g., issues beyond a paper jam).
