How to Use the ACT Computer Lounge

Audience: Fullerton College students

Overview: The ACT Computer Lounge (Room 513, Building 500) provides students with computers, pre-installed software, and printing to support coursework. Access requires a Student Email and valid photo ID to obtain print credits. This article explains how to use the lounge, print, and follow General Campus Computer Access Policies. For other lounges (e.g., 212, 800), contact the respective managing department for hours of operation.

Prerequisites

  • A Student Email (e.g., [email protected]) and MyGateway password.
  • A valid FC student ID card or government-issued photo ID.
  • Compliance with NOCCCD Acceptable Use Policy AP 3720.

Instructions

Step 1: Access the Lounge

  1. Visit the ACT Computer Lounge (Room 513, Building 500) during posted hours.
  2. Present your FC student ID or photo ID.
  3. You may be asked to place your ID in the holder at your assigned computer or check in.
  4. Log in with your Student Email (e.g., [email protected]) and MyGateway password.
    • Note: Access is first-come, first-served. If full, staff may direct you to other lounges.

Step 2: Use Computers and Software

  1. Use pre-installed software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud) for coursework.
    • Do not install or remove software, contact lounge staff for needs.
  2. Save work to OneDrive or a USB drive.
  3. Follow lounge policies:
    • Use computers for educational purposes only (no gaming, peer-to-peer file sharing, or personal gain).
    • No food or drinks allowed.
    • Please keep the lounge clean and orderly.

Step 3: Print Documents

  1. Follow staff instruction or research here in the database how to obtain credits and print.
  2. Note: Printing is currently free in Room 513 but is subject to change in the future.

Step 4: Log Out

  1. Save your work.
  2. Click Start > user profile > Sign out.
  3. Remove your ID from the holder, or check out, and exit by the posted closing time.

Troubleshooting

Can’t access the lounge?

  • Ensure you have your FC student ID or photo ID.
  • Verify lounge hours (posted on the ACT portion of the fullcoll website or via feel free to email the [email protected].
  • If full, ask staff for other lounge options.

Login failed?

Software or computer issues?

  • Notify lounge staff or email [email protected].
  • Please, do not attempt to modify software or hardware.

Violated a policy?

  • Review AP 3720 (https://www.nocccd.edu/policies-and-procedures).
  • Account revocation may occur; contact the ACT Helpdesk for resolution.
