As part of our upcoming upgrade to Windows 11, we want to ensure your important files are safely backed up and transferred to your new desktop. Please take a few moments to review the following steps to make sure your documents, pictures, and desktop files move over seamlessly.
1. Use OneDrive to Back Up Your Files
OneDrive is a cloud storage service that automatically backs up your important files, ensuring they are transferred to your new computer. To make sure your files are backed up:
- Confirm OneDrive is Set Up: Follow the instructions in this guide to set up OneDrive and sync your Documents, Pictures, and Desktop folders. These are the only folders that will transfer automatically.
- Important Reminder: Files in other folders like Downloads, Music, and Videos, Etc. will not be backed up unless you move/copy them into one of the three folders mentioned above.
2. Sync Your Microsoft Edge Browser
To ensure your bookmarks, browser history, and settings transfer smoothly to your new device, we recommend syncing your Microsoft Edge browser. You can easily set this up by following these steps.
By syncing Edge, all your browsing preferences will follow you to your new PC without any extra effort.
By following these steps, you'll ensure a smooth transition to your upgraded desktop with all your important files and preferences intact.
