How to Reserve the 611 Computer Lounge

Overview: The 611 Computer Lounge (Room 611, Building 600) is available for instructor-led demonstrations or department use by reservation. Equipped with 54 student workstations and 1 instructor station, it supports coursework with Windows PCs and printing (charges apply). This article explains how to reserve, access, and cancel reservations.

Prerequisites

  • A Staff Email (e.g., [email protected]) and MyGateway password.
  • Access to Microsoft Outlook.
  • Compliance with NOCCCD Acceptable Use Policy (AP 3720).

Instructions

Step 1: Reserve the Lounge

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Access the Public Folder:
    • Navigate to Calendars > Public Folders > 611 Lab Calendar.
  3. Create a meeting request:
    • Specify date, time (1 hour/section/week, up to 6 hours/semester), and section details.
    • Use your Staff Email with prefix *fc* (e.g., fc\jdoe).
  4. Submit the request; approved reservations appear on the calendar.
    • Note: Reservations are first-come, first-served. Additional time may be allowed if no conflicts exist but may be adjusted due to demand.

Step 2: Access the Lounge

  1. At least 15 minutes before your session, contact Campus Safety (714-992-7080, ext. 0) to unlock the lounge (Room 611, 600 Building, south entrance).
  2. Log in to workstations:
    • Staff: Use your Staff Email username (e.g., jdoe).
    • Students: Use 8-digit student ID and MyGateway password.
  3. Conduct your session; ensure students use computers for educational purposes only.
  4. For printing students and staff may need print credit loaded in advance from either the ACT Help Desk or the ACT Computer Lounge (Room 513).
  5. Contact Campus Safety to lock the lounge after your session ends.

Lounge not unlocked?

  • Call Campus Safety (714-992-7080, ext. 0) 30 minutes prior.

Policy violation?

  • Review AP 3720 (https://www.nocccd.edu/policies-and-procedures).
  • Contact the ACT Helpdesk for account issues.
