How to Request a Retiree Account

Updated on

Audience: Retiring Fullerton College employees (staff, managers, directors)

Overview: Fullerton College employees retiring in good standing can request to maintain their FCNet email account (e.g., [email protected]) with retiree permissions after their retirement date. This article explains how to request a retiree account and what to expect.

Prerequisites

  • You must be retiring in good standing from Fullerton College.
  • You need approval from your Dean or Manager.
  • A Service Request (SR) must be submitted with the required approvals.

Instructions

  1. Obtain Approval from Your Dean or Manager:
    • Email your Fullerton College Dean or Manager, including your retirement date and requesting approval for a retiree account.
    • Wait for their written approval (e.g., email response).
  2. Submit a Service Request (SR):
    • Visit Service Request Portal to create an SR.
    • In the SR body, paste your Dean or Manager’s approval email.
    • Specify your retirement date and request to maintain your FCNet email as a retiree account.
  3. Wait for ACT Director Approval:
    • The Academic Computing Technologies (ACT) team will forward your SR to the ACT Director for final approval.
    • This process may take several business days, especially during peak times (e.g., semester starts).
  4. Receive Notification:
    • You will receive an email from ACT notifying you whether your retiree account request was approved or denied.
    • If approved, your FCNet account will transition to retiree status after your retirement date, retaining access to your email (e.g., [email protected]) with retiree permissions.

Notes

  • Retiree Permissions: Retiree accounts retain email access but may have limited access to other services (e.g., Office 365, campus systems). Contact [email protected] for details.
  • Processing Time: Allow up to 2 weeks for approval and account transition, especially during holidays or peak periods.
  • Denials: If denied, the notification email will include the reason (e.g., incomplete approval). You may resubmit with corrected information.
  • Policy Compliance: Retiree accounts must follow NOCCCD’s Acceptable Use Policy.
