How to Reset Your Staff FCNet Password

Updated on

Audience: Fullerton College staff

Overview: Your FCNet account password (e.g., for [email protected]) provides access to email, Office 365, and campus systems. You can reset it via Microsoft’s Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) or with ACT assistance. This article explains both options.

Prerequisites

  • For Self-Service:
    • Your FCNet email address (e.g., [email protected]).
    • Registered alternate contact methods (e.g., personal phone, Microsoft Authenticator) in Microsoft 365.
    • A device with a web browser.
  • For ACT Assistance:
    • Your FCNet username.
    • A valid photo ID (e.g., staff ID, driver’s license, passport).
    • For remote resets, a device capable of Zoom screensharing.

Instructions

Option 1: Self-Service Password Reset

  1. Navigate to SSPR:
  2. Verify Identity:
    • Choose a registered method (e.g., SMS, MFA Token) to receive a verification code.
    • Enter the code received.
    • If no methods are registered, use Option 2 (ACT Assistance).
  3. Create a New Password:

      • At least 8 characters long.

  2. Verify Identity:
    • In-Person: Visit Building 500, Room 517 with a valid photo ID (e.g., staff ID, driver’s license).
    • Remote: Schedule a Zoom session with ACT. Show your photo ID and screenshare your device.
  3. Reset Password:
    • ACT can help navigate the password reset with you.

    • Follow prompts to set a new password meeting the requirements above.
  4. Test Access:
    • Verify login to email, Office 365, and other services. Contact ACT if issues persist.

Notes

  • No Expiration: Staff passwords don’t expire unless compromised. Contact ACT for suspected breaches.
  • MyGateway Sync: Staff FCNet passwords are separate from MyGateway. For MyGateway resets, see NOCCCD IS HelpDesk.
  • Processing Time: Self-service is immediate; ACT-assisted resets can take up 1–3 business days, longer during peak periods.
  • Policy Compliance: Passwords must follow NOCCCD’s Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Recommendation: Register multiple SSPR methods (e.g., phone, alternate email) to avoid needing ACT assistance.
